15 minutes:

“Boxing is a series of sacrifices and simultaneously
a series of triumphs.” - Roc

When boxers train and dedicate their time to boxing, the long days and longer nights of training make it difficult to spend the proper time working to provide for themselves and their family; but somehow, they get it done. Boxers endure many fights both in and outside of the ring, mentally, physically, spiritually and emotionally. Boxers quite literally FIGHT in all aspects of their life.

Great support for professionals or public figures is seen in many districts, but very rarely amateurs or those just starting their professional career. Boxing is also often discriminated against, saying it’s a “low sport without achievement!” However, boxing is by far one of the toughest sports in which huge sacrifices are made every day and before every fight and many never see the blood, sweat and grit before each fight. Boxers stand alone, they don’t not have a team on the court or on the field with them, and if the Boxer gets tired or hurt there are no substitutions, they must press on!

Take 15 minutes and enter a boxing gym and see the needs of boxers. Observe their attire, sweat jackets, hoodies, gloves, boxing shoes. Ask about their eating and hydration needs, the elements they work with mitts, jump ropes, weights, resistance bands.

I encourage you to visit Sarasota Boxing Club, a registered 501c3 non profit institution dedicated to providing a safe and healthy environment for all members of the community, particularly underprivileged and at risk youth. SBC believes boxing training is an ideal platform to build good lifelong habits such as discipline, a strong work ethic and self esteem. Their motto: Love & Respect!

Today we can say that those who can live in boxing are counted, many survive and few arrive. Those who press on deserve support, they’ve earned it beating the odds in the face of all adversity.

As for me, my boxing journey is a rebellious mix of redemption, freedom and resilience that fuels me to show up every day. I fight for many reasons, but most notably I fight in honor of my God Father, Dr. Mutulu Shakur, I fight for him because he has dedicated his life fighting for the people and it’s our turn to fight for him.

It's in a rebel's nature to walk alone - but, if you want to walk with me, you’re welcome to join me on my warpath…

I train 7 days a week at Sarasota Boxing Club in Sarasota, Florida. Open spar days are Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday - If you’d like to donate boxing equipment to the gym email: info@rocshouse.xyz if you would like to be a sponsor or send your support for my boxing journey chose from the buttons below.
